I have found that my teenagers, Ashley and Wesley, tend to want to be drawn to MTV,
MySpace and running down to the nearest coffee house to hang out with the skater crowd. I have been racking my brain at what I can do to change some of this and generate more interest in drawing them into more family time.I realize being a single mom that the interest is not quite is exciting for them "but" then I just have to be more inventive! So, I got to thinking. I have various hobbies including my gardening which is vast as I have numerous gardens and flowers throughout my yard, I love to cook, I have started getting back in shape by starting a fitness program for myself and I also really enjoy this blog I have been doing hopefully helping all you parents, possibly giving you information that can help you in your day to day challenges in raising your teenagers.
Well, I came up with an awesome idea which I think maybe you can benefit from as well. Since my son is into fitness already and my daughter has been talking about taking some weight off, we, as a family have decided to start a fitness program as a family. It is far greater than sitting in front of a television, sitting in front of a computer on myspace or hanging out at a coffee shop drinking fattening coffee drinks.
We have a walking track over by our subdivision and the three of us take off every evening after dinner and walk the track around twice which is the equivelent of 2 miles. We also do some workouts on my ab lounger here at home to take care of the wonderful abs we all think we could use a little work on.
Now I know not everyone is fitness concious but don't you think this is a far better thing for your teenagers than sitting in front of that all glorious television?? So get those teenagers off the couch and all of you as a family make a point of making a pack and get in shape!!
