Parenting Is A Lost Art

Parenting has become a lost art in this day and age. We have become so self-absorbed as parents in our own lives that we dont stop and realize what our teens are dealing with in their own lives on a day to day basis. Social status, peer pressure, drugs, alcohol, sex, education and our approval are just just the tip of the iceburg for what they are faced with! We, as parents, are so consumed with giving them everything instead of teaching them what the almighty dollar is actually worth and what it takes to make it. Also instead of actually sitting down and watching a television show, playing a game or just discussing their day, we give them a computer, an Xbox 360 or hand them a razor cell phone and hope that makes up for the late nights at work or the vacations we take without them or the parties we attend while they sit at home alone. So, parents, wake up! It is time to take responsibility for our actions and understand that we took on the responsibility of the lives of these young people when we brought them into this world so lets do our jobs and mold our future by making our young people into bright and shining stars to make our world a better place to live in!

This was very touching to me. I like your thoughts of raising children. I'm a mother of 6 kids, ages 19,15,twins 12,5 and 4. My 19 year old dont live at home anymore. My hubby is truck driver and I take care of my kids alone most of the time. Its really hard for me to share my time with them, but I do the best I can. I do a lot with my kids. They are in basketball and other school things. Which dont leave me a lot of time for myself. Its strange how we share our time together. With the girls being older, we share the cooking. We watch tv and play games on playstation. The kids have there time on the computer too, but we do a lot on the computer together also. By the end of the day it seems like theres not enought time to do all the things I want to get done with them. But I try my best to be the Best Mother I can.....
